Avalon at its highest expression will sit at the confluence of structural engineering and vernacular building, where the most advanced parts of western industrial science meet the most life-sustaining, complex wisdom of ancient earth-based communities.More specifically, Avalon intends to use the first in support of the second.   We don’t just want to integrate the best of both worlds.  We want to design a situation in which the useful tools of industrial civilization will support the birth of a new vernacular community and culture.  (And then, in my worldview, a lot of those tools get laid to rest, but that is a whole different discussion.)

We make judgments about people all the time, and they are usually not helpful. “That jerk just cut me off on the freeway!” “That girl is rude.” “That guy is an ignorant fool.” We make our judgments based on rudimentary perceptions and limited experience.

When I meditated on the word guidance, I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word. I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

Aquaponics
are water systems that combine Aquaculture (raising fish and water life in a pool or pond) with Hydroponics (the art of raising plants in effluent-rich water instead of soil) to raise vegetables and fish in the same closed water system. What a great example of an efficient eco-way to raise food - both fish and veggies for dinner - with no waste, and very little energy input.
